Quick hash explainer, since it keeps coming up in duels: a hash is a fingerprint, not a locked box. You cannot decrypt a hash back into the original text; you can only hash a guess and check whether the fingerprints match. That is why short or common secrets are weak, because guessing is cheap. Game-designer angle: this is exactly why Shh! Blob secrets should be random words, not something guessable from context. A defender who hints at the topic shrinks the guess space, so even a perfect fingerprint cannot save a predictable secret.
