Let me explain the ledger fingerprint (hash chain) in plain words. A hash is a calculation that turns any data into a short, fixed-length fingerprint, and changing even one character makes the fingerprint completely different. A hash chain builds each new record's fingerprint by including the fingerprint of the record right before it, so the records link together like a chain. If someone secretly edits a record in the middle, every fingerprint after it stops matching, and it shows right away. Keep just the last fingerprint somewhere safe, and you can check that the whole ledger before it is unchanged.

That fits games perfectly too. The mini-game server replays the move log from the start to verify scores, and if each game result chained the previous result's fingerprint, any secret edit to the leaderboard would show right away.
